The outputs of the programme are being tested in real world situations through the NDTP demonstrators. In particular, this work is looking at how digital twin-related technologies and processes can:

Deliver
Support understanding of the feasibility, and delivery, of policies.

Optimise
Improve the management and optimisation of assets and eco-systems throughout their lifecycles.

Adapt
Improve our ability to plan for, and respond effectively to, events, as well analyse, learn from and adapt to changing circumstances.
Working in Phases
The demonstration work is divided into phases, each laying down the foundation for the succeeding phases, adding to our knowledge and the development and dissemination of this learning through guidance, processes and tools.
It helps us to ensure our solutions are truly versatile, scalable and adoptable. It pushes us to challenge our assumptions and design digital solutions that are not just powerful, but also intuitive and inclusive, regardless of where they are applied in the future.
Demonstrator Case Studies
The Isle of Wight
All of our demonstrators to date have been seeded on the Isle of Wight.
Located off England’s South Coast, the Isle of Wight encompasses a variety of landscapes, including urban areas, rural countryside, and coastal regions, and demographically mirrors many aspects of the UK as a whole. It hosts a population of approximately 140,000, which expands significantly during the summer tourism season. This fluctuation provides a dynamic backdrop for our demonstrator projects, mirroring the variable demands placed on infrastructure and services in other parts of the UK. The Island also contains many of the types of assets, albeit at a smaller scale, that are found across the UK. In combination, these factors mean that the Island can be considered a bounded microcosm of the UK and an ideal location for testing digital twin technologies.

Demonstrator partners
This demonstrator work would not be possible without the support, involvement and enthusiasm of our partner organisations on the Island, in particular:

- Isle of Wight NHS Trust
- South East Coast Ambulance Service
- Ed-WISE
- Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary
- Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue
